2018 Subaru Crosstrek Unveils All-New Design

The all-new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek features sporty and rugged styling and the most advanced features the automaker has ever brought to the market.

Under the Hood

All 2018 Crosstreks are equipped with a direct fuel injection 2-liter BOXER engine that delivers 152 horsepower — four more over previous models.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard on some models, while others feature a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with seven-speed manual shift mode. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters facilitate manual shifts for a sporty feel and quick response without requiring drivers to take their hands off the wheel.

The standard all-wheel-drive system uses torque vectoring to improve handling. If one wheel loses traction, power is automatically diverted to the remaining wheels to help keep the vehicle on the driver’s intended course and help maintain control.

Comfort and Convenience

Subaru’s Starlink infotainment system provides the most advanced connectivity to smartphones and the vehicle’s audio system for a seamless experience whether it’s facilitating hands-free voice calls via Bluetooth technology, streaming audio or integration with mobile apps. Intuitive voice commands make the system easy for drivers to use while keeping their attention on the road. The 6.5-inch display screen for the infotainment system also conveniently serves as the viewer for the standard backup camera.

An available navigation system uses TomTom maps and gives turn-by-turn directions for the most efficient route to the destination.

The second-row seat is split 60/40 to allow it to fold down for a variety of seating and cargo carrying configurations.

Seat heaters and automatic climate control ensure maximum comfort despite exterior temperatures.

Drivers sit in a six-way power-adjustable seat and keyless entry with push-button start make fumbling in the bottom of a pocket or purse for keys a thing of the past.

Safety was the number-one priority for Subaru engineers with the 2018 Crosstrek, and they sought to build on the success of previous models, which earned the Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for the past six years when equipped with EyeSight.

This year’s model takes that further, with 40 percent more energy absorption in a collision.

Subaru’s EyeSight system improves safety by bringing drivers adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking and lane departure and sway warning.

Also available are blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.

A full set of airbags protects occupants in the event of a collision, and three-point seat belts are standard at all seating positions.

The vehicle stops quickly thanks to antilock disc brakes with brake assist, and the stability/traction control system helps keep it on the driver’s intended course.
