Subaru’s spirited 2022 Outback features several enhancements that continue its leadership as an everyday commuter vehicle with the heart for outdoor adventure.
Also, the all-new Outback Wilderness made its debut for the 2022 model year. It features a 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine, advanced dual function X-Mode, elevated 9.5-inch ground clearance, all-terrain tires, upgraded suspension and unique exterior and interior styling.
Along with the Wilderness model, Outback also offers several other models: Base, Premium, Limited, Touring, Onyx Edition XT, Limited XT and Touring XT trims.
All models include LED fog lights as standard equipment for improved nighttime visibility, Premium trim now includes rear ventilation in the center console for better air flow throughout the cabin.
Under The Hood
Subaru provides two engine options--the standard 2.5-liter flat four-cylinder and a 2.4-liter turbocharged flat I-4 engine. Both engines send power to all four wheels using a continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive.
The standard engine offers a 2,700-pound trailering capacity. In contrast, the turbo engine comes with a 3,500-pound towing capacity.
Outback delivers the optimal blend of SUV capability and car-like ride and handling with standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Active Torque Vectoring, Vehicle Dynamics Control and X-MODE with Hill Descent Control.
Comfort & Convenience
Outback seats five passengers and offers 32.5 cubic feet of standard cargo capacity. With the rear seats folded, the 4-door wagon claims 75.2 cubic feet of storage space.
The console has a pair of 7-inch touch screen displays--an upper screen manages audio controls and a lower screen for adjusting climate zones, drive modes and safety systems.
Subaru includes traditional AM/FM/HD along with support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and audio streaming connectivity.
Safety
Numerous safety features are included as standard equipment including LED Steering Responsive Headlights with High Beam Assist, Rear Vision Camera with Adaptive Guidelines, X-Mode with Hill Descent Control.
Other safety features include Subaru’s Eyesight Driver Assist Technology, Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Blind-Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, Adaptive LED Pivoting Headlights, Pedestrian Warning, Drive Drowsiness Monitoring and a Front-View Camera System.
