2022 Subaru Forester Earns Recognition For Safety

Subaru always has made occupant safety its highest priority for every model, and the focus on technological improvement continues to earn accolades among safety experts.

The 2022 Forester compact SUV was named a 2022 Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety--the 16th consecutive year the model has been named to the list.

“We are committed to providing customers with vehicles set to the highest safety standards year over year and this streak is a testament to that commitment,” says Thomas J. Doll, Subaru President.

Other Safety Recognition

Seven other Subaru models also received an IIHS award this year. Top Safety Pick+ winners were:

  • Subaru Ascent

  • Subaru BRZ with EyeSight

  • Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid

  • Subaru Legacy

  • Subaru Outback

Other TOP SAFETY PICK winners were:

  • Subaru Crosstrek (with EyeSight and specific headlights) for 11 consecutive years

  • Subaru Impreza five-door (with EyeSight® and specific headlights) for 15 consecutive years

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its “Top Safety Pick +” award to the 2022 Forester compact SUV after it received the highest possible rating in all crashworthiness and crash avoidance tests.

Headlights on all trim levels achieved top ratings for performance and the standard driver assist technology earned superior marks in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrians evaluations.

Forester Models

Subaru’s Forester is available in six trim levels: Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, Touring and the all-new Wilderness.

Premium black cloth seats provide plenty of room for five passengers and automatic climate control offers cool temperature comfort in the scorching heat.

Forester drives well in tough terrains because of a 9.2-inch ground clearance and offers added protection with a front skid plate. A dependable Symmetrical All Wheel Drive and balanced design provide improved stability and deliver maximum traction on challenging trails.

The Forester Wilderness model offers a drivetrain with re-tuned gearing and revised ratios for better low-speed climbing. It also has an upgraded towing capacity of up to 3,000 pounds to haul a small camping trailer and summer adventure accessories.

Garment hooks are included in the cargo area ceiling to make living outdoor activities convenient. These lightweight hooks are ideal for hanging a jacket, wetsuit, or even boots, letting them air out and dry.

Driving Technology

Subaru’s safety technology tracks traffic movement and optimizes cruise control. The Automatic Pre-Collision Braking feature brings the vehicle to a complete stop in emergency situations.

For individuals looking to spend time in the deep woods, a 180-degree front-facing camera allows drivers to get a clearer view of obstacles in front of the SUV and navigate around rocks or broken logs.
