Subaru has added several convenience and eye-catching styling updates to its popular Legacy line-up.
The 2023 Legacy comes with a refreshed front end incorporating a prominent grille and redesigned LED headlights. It also features a larger single-unit touchscreen and new in-vehicle safety improvements.
For the 2023 model year, the family sedan is available in base, Premium, Sport, Limited and Touring XT trim levels.
Under the Hood
Subaru offers two performance engines: A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 hp with 176 Ib-ft of torque and a turbocharged 2.4-liter variant that delivers 260 hp with 277 Ib-ft of torque.
Both engines are paired with an 8-speed transmission and paddle shifters.
The 2.4-liter turbo delivers an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The 2.5-liter counterpart offers a longer range of 600 miles on a single tank of gas.
Comfort and Convenience
Subaru Legacy offers a multimedia system that debuts an 11.6-inch high-resolution touchscreen and improved on-screen controls for general vehicle settings.
The location technology allows users to get accurate directions by using three simple words. Location technology also can be synced with mobile devices to navigate unfamiliar territories.
High-end Limited and Touring models offer full-grain plush leather, contrasting silver stitching and high-gloss black molding for the pillars.
Safety
The upgraded Legacy Eyesight Driver Assist Technology delivers an impressive array of safety options.
Automatic Emergency Steering is one of the latest features and helps avoid collisions by providing automatic steering and pre-collision braking support. The two systems work in conjunction to prevent the sedan from crashing into obstacles at speeds of less than 50 mph.
In addition, the range-topping Touring XT adds a wide-angle mono camera that works with a dual-camera Eyesight system.
The additional camera widens the field of view of the Legacy by recognizing pedestrians and cyclists approaching an intersection. Eyesight displays warnings and automatically can apply the brakes.
Distraction Mitigation System is available on the Sport and Touring XT trims. It uses facial recognition technology to identify signs of driver fatigue or distraction.
