All-New Ascent Brings 8-person Seating, Versatility, Comfort

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is the automaker’s largest vehicle ever, featuring comfortable seating for seven or eight passengers and is the ideal SUV for families who like to live on the go with a host of tech and convenience features, advanced safety and plenty of power.

Under the Hood

Subaru engineers equipped the 2019 Ascent with a turbocharged 2.4-liter Boxer engine with direct fuel injection that delivers 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.

The engine is mated with a Lineartronic continuously variable automatic transmission with eight-speed manual shift mode controlled via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Standard on all models is Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, which delivers superior performance when cornering as well as adding safety by helping the vehicle retain traction even on slick or loose driving surfaces.

Comfort and Convenience

The whole family was at the top of mind when Subaru designed the 2019 Ascent, and it shows with wide-opening rear doors, eight standard USB ports for charging devices and a 120-volt power outlet in the rear center console for additional charging. The 19 standard cup holders ensure plenty of space for beverages as well as whatever other toys or snacks the kids need a spot for.

Subaru’s Starlink multimedia system has a multi-touch high-resolution display screen and syncs with smartphones for hands-free voice calls, audio streaming and mobile app integration. The standard screen size is 6.5 inches, and it can be upgraded to an 8-inch screen. Other features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as another first: an in-car LTE wifi hotspot.

Other tech features include remote engine start on vehicles equipped with push-button start, concierge service, anti-theft vehicle immobilizer and child safety functions such as geofencing, speed alert and curfew.

Subaru designers built the 2019 Ascent as the perfect family SUV, and that means protecting everyone inside. The standard EyeSight driver assistance technologies include automatic pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, sway warning, pre-collision throttle management and the new EyeSight assist monitor, which is a heads-up display of the EyeSight safety warnings.

Other features that can be added include blind spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert.

A full set of airbags protects occupants in the event of a collision, and a rearview camera makes reversing safer and easier.
