Outback Wilderness

The 2022 Outback Wilderness combines enhanced performance with a new level of ruggedness, without sacrificing comfort on or off the road.

This sixth generation Outback comes with Subaru’s core technologies, extra ground clearance, all-terrain tires and a more powerful engine.

Under the Hood

Powering the Outback Wilderness is a 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer engine that generates 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque at a low 2000 rpm. This turbo powerplant gives the Outback a 3,500 pound towing capacity.

A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is mated with 8 simulated gears--a higher drive ratio of 4:44:1 from 4:11:1. This low-end torque allows the car to accelerate at low speeds without shifting gears as well as maintain momentum over rough terrain without over speeding.

Comfort and Convenience

The gunmetal interior trim and copper accents on the steering wheel, gear selector and meter rings are complemented with all weather seats decked in Subaru StarTex-- a durable water repellent material.

Outback’s expansive back area provides 1.4 inches of additional legroom than its predecessor. The cargo area also expands to 33 cubic feet of space . This is equivalent to carrying 11 suitcases with the back seat up and 23 suitcases with the back seat flattened out.

Dashboard interior offers an extensive list of standard features including an 11.6 inch infotainment touchscreen with large touch icons and quick response time. The vertical screen combines multimedia and HVAC controls, Android Auto/Bluetooth functionality, Apple CarPlay and  a 12-speaker, 576 watt audio system and more.

Safety

The 2022 Outback Wilderness is built on Subaru’s driver assistance technology of preventive safety. Adaptive Cruise Control uses the vehicle’s radar and cameras to detect cars ahead and maintain a specific distance from the car in front.

Active Park Assist seeks out an empty parking spot and veers the vehicle into the space, leaving the driver to only operate the accelerator and braking system.

By using radar and forward facing cameras, the emergency braking system warns a driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle, pedestrian or any obstacle. The traffic sign recognition presents information like speed limits and road warnings  on the infotainment screen as a reminder to drive carefully.
