Responsive Handling, Reliable Performance Define ‘18 Outback

The Subaru Outback is no stranger to adventure, and the 2018 version reminds once again while it will always have the soul of a rally car.

All 2018 Outbacks enjoy Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive technology, an active system that electronically manages torque distribution based on speed and traction.

A 175 horsepower double overhead cam 2.5-liter BOXER engine powers the Outback 2.5i. This engine produces 174 pound-feet of torque and an active grille shutter system helps improve fuel economy by cutting wind resistance. There’s also the Outback 3.6R, which enjoys 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines are paired with the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission which offers a seven-speed manual mode and paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The continuously variable transmission brings a buttery smooth response for 2018, thanks to its returned electronic control unit.
