Subaru’s redesigned 2024 Impreza and Crosstrek have earned top safety honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The all-new Impreza was awarded a "Top Safety Pick+" accolade, while the 2024 Crosstrek was acknowledged with a "Top Safety Pick" laurel.
Both vehicles were acknowledged for outstanding crash test performances and a proactive bundle of advanced safety features.
The Crosstrek SUV has reached the pinnacle of safety accolades with its sixth consecutive award, while the 5-door Impreza sedan continues its legacy of apex excellence with its fourth title.
"We are thrilled that seven of our 2024 models received a 2023 IIHS Top Safety Pick award, especially under the new criteria," said Jeff Walters, president of Subaru. "This is a testament to our commitment of providing customers with vehicles set to the highest safety standards."
In 2023, the IIHS elevated the requirements for its Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) and Top Safety Pick (TSP) awards to provide additional protection for car occupants in a variety of crash scenarios.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety introduced a more rigorous side impact crash test, simulating a collision with a heavier vehicle traveling at 82 mph compared to the previous test speed of 50 mph.
Vehicles must meet “Acceptable” or “Good” headlight rankings to earn the for Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards.
In addition, the IHHS requires acceptable and good headlights to be offered on at least one trim for TSP qualification. At the same time, for a TSP+ designation good-rated headlights are mandatory across all trims.
To date, Subaru has received a cumulative total of over 100 Top Safety Pick+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
