Subaru Reaches Out To Help Homeless

Subaru and its retailers are donating 500,000 pairs of socks and 100,000 blankets to homeless shelters across the country.

Over 600 retailers nationwide will personally deliver these items to their community shelter partners for adults and children currently without housing.

"As an automaker committed to helping our communities, we want to give a measure of comfort and warmth to individuals and families experiencing homelessness," said Thomas J. Doll, president of Subaru.

"Subaru and our retailers are thankful for our shelter partners and their continued support to show those in need that we are thinking of them."

The donation is an extension of the Subaru Loves to Help Initiative—a community-pillar program dedicated to the vulnerable and underprivileged.

It includes food donations, delivering meals to seniors and supporting the American Red Cross in disaster response.

Last year, Subaru and its retailers celebrated 15 years of giving back to their communities with the Share the Love Event.

Beneficiaries included The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Make-A-Wish, National Park Foundation, Feeding America and a cross-section of local charities.

Since 2020, Subaru and her partners have distributed 150 million meals through Feeding America to 199 food banks to individuals and families facing hunger. By extension, the benevolent gesture has also seen Meals on Wheels deliver over 4 million meals to the elderly.

In 2021, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals collaborated with Subaru to distribute $600,000 in grant funding to 153 animal welfare organizations.
