Six Subaru vehicles have received top safety pick awards after a comprehensive assessment from an insurance-industry backed organization.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded its “Top Safety Pick” to the Subaru 2022 Crosstrek and 2022 Impreza. While “Top Safety Pick+” honors were awarded to the 2022 Ascent, 2022 Legacy and 2022 Crosstrek Hybrid.
“We are thrilled to receive 6 IIHS awards for our 2022 model lineup,” said Subaru President Thomas J. Doll. “Our top priority is to provide customers with vehicles made to the highest standards in safety.”
All Subaru models in the 2022 lineup received “Good” ratings in all IIHS crashworthiness evaluations. The standard Eyesight driver-assistive and safety technology system earned “Advanced” or “Superior” ratings in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash prevention.
The 2022 Crosstrek and 2022 Impreza also recorded “Top Safety Pick” scores from significant headlight improvements.
To earn the 2022 TSP award, a vehicle must earn “Good” crashworthiness ratings in all test modes, including the difficult passenger-side small overlap test. Additionally, the cars must offer front crash prevention that earns an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian testing.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent agency responsible for performing annual audits on vehicles. It evaluates a vehicle’s crashworthiness with the assistance of 6 tests focused on minimizing injuries and property damage collisions.
IIHS started its yearly appraisals for Top Safety Picks in 2006 and announced its Top Safety Pick Plus laurels in 2013. Both honors identify the best safety selections in different vehicle-size categories annually.
